Why are these myths being spread about Iceland? Why do people think that Iceland is a progressive paradise when in actual fact its a Thatcherite’s wet dream? Why is Iceland being paraded by the occupy movement as an example of how things should be done?

    I have generally given up on correcting the myths that circulate on the internet. This piece tries very hard to do that and shows what a flippin' huge job it is to correct disinformation. 

    But I do still sometimes feel that it is part of my job to remind people that repeating misinformation, even if it is misinformation that you happen to like, simply because you happen to like it, does not make it true, even if almost everyone you know is repeating it, too. 

    This is nice and deep and IMHO worth reading and if you have interest in the actual story, rather than the internet myth, the links are definitely worth following.
